The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Peshmerga Minister has been invited to the Kurdistan Parliament this week, as questions persist about the unification of the Kurdish forces.
Mahmood Haji Omar, who sits on the Peshmerga committee in the Kurdistan Parliament, told BasNews on Saturday, “The committee will hold a meeting in parliament on Monday with Peshmerga Minister Mustafa Sayid Qadir.
“The main reason for the meeting is for Qadir to explain why some units of the Peshmerga have not been unified under the authority of his Ministry yet, even though the six month time limit for implementation has passed,” said Omar.
The Kurdish MP said that if the Peshmerga Minister fails to attend the meeting then the question will be directed to Peshmerga committee in the Kurdistan Parliament.
KRG has tried unsuccessfully so far to unified the Peshmerga forces, and become a national force, which in the past have been seen as more party-based force.
