The Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament has told both the Iraqi federal and Kurdistan Regional governments to adhere to the recently declared oil exports agreement.
The Iraqi Parliament Speaker Aram Sheikh Mohammed told BasNews, “There have been two attempts to limit and link the authority of the Iraqi Finance Minister to the head of the ,ministry council in Baghdad so that the process of selling oil and natural resources will be done through Baghdad. However, Kurdish representatives have stood against it.”
“State of Law coalition MPs are trying to dismantle the Erbil – Baghdad agreement demanding all the Kurdistan Region’s oil income be given to the Baghdad government,” said Mohammed.
He continued, “I ask the Erbil and Baghdad governments to respect the agreement.”
“The Kurdistan Region exports an amount of oil for Baghdad, in return Baghdad will send the region’s budget,” added Mohammed.
