SRMG, founded in 1972 is a fully integrated publishing group. It straddles the entire chain of publishing, advertising, printing and distribution functions. One out of every 2 publications sold in KSA come from SRMG’s stable. Its publications have 47% share in the total circulation.
The time line of the company goes back to 1963 when Madina Printing and Publishing Company was established (renamed to Saudi Printing and Packaging Company in 2006). In 1972 Saudi Research and Publishing Company was formed which in 1975, launched Arab News, the first Saudi English-language daily. Since then, the list of publications has grown to 15 daily, weekly and monthly newspapers and magazines. Later in 1978, it launched Ashraq Al-Awsat out of London. In 1983, the group forayed in distribution by establishing Saudi Distribution Company to distribute its publications. The business model was complete when Al Khaleejiah Advertising and Public Relations Company was formed in 1990. SRMG went public in 2006 with a 30% stake offering.
